Western Integrated Electrical builds, installs, maintains, and commissions electrical systems throughout locations across the lower mainland. We complete a variety of electrical installations which can be located at YVR, hospitals, industrial facilities, commercial buildings and in many local municipal facilities. We partner with our clients across the lower mainland to solve their most pressing challenges including design build projects and custom solutions. Distribution and lighting upgrades. Conveyor and machine installations.

We are looking for an experienced Automation Project Manager to join our team of professionals. 

What you will be doing:

Western Integrated Systems, a leader in the industrial electrical sector, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Automation Project Manager to lead the execution of automation projects from inception to completion. This role is essential in ensuring projects meet technical, budgetary, and schedule requirements while fostering stakeholder collaboration and maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee automation projects, ensuring scope, budget, and timeline adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and customers, to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues promptly to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Practice change management by effectively managing changes in project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring alignment with client expectations while maintaining the project's integrity.

Team Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with engineers, designers, and technicians to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide clear direction and expectations to project team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Customer Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct client project reviews and status meetings, addressing technical inquiries and concerns.
  • Develop strong customer relationships to promote trust and repeat business opportunities.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure projects meet the highest quality standards, adhering to company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project processes and deliverables.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and implement improvements.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate project records, including schedules, budgets, technical documentation, and progress reports.
  • Provide regular updates to the engineering manager on project status, challenges, and key metrics.
  • Ensure all project documentation is completed and delivered to the client at project closeout.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with project site health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel up to 20% of the time to client sites, vendor facilities, or project locations as needed.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in automation, industrial controls, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of automation systems, including Drives, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and network protocols.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Office 365, and CRM systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical report writing and presentations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including CSA, IEC, or IEEE.
  • Experience in the forestry, mining, and water-wastewater sectors is a strong asset.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is an asset.
