We are seeking a motivated and energetic individual to join our team of professionals as a Senior Panel Shop Wireman.
What you will be doing:
Western Integrated Systems, a leader in the industrial electrical control panel sector, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Wireman. Reporting to the Shop Lead, the Senior Wireman is responsible for providing assembly and wiring labor for industrial electrical control panels. The role also assists shop operations to ensure productive and safe manufacturing. Additionally, the Senior Wireman ensures high-quality workmanship, on-time deliveries, and adherence to safety standards in a team-oriented environment.
Some key responsibilities for this role include:
Assembly and Wiring
- Assemble and install electrical components in industrial control panels using hand and power tools.
- Perform custom modifications to panels by cutting and drilling holes to mount door devices, switches, fans, and other components.
- Cut, strip, bend, install, and connect control wires and power cables to electrical components rated up to 600V, 600HP.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, addressing any anomalies or discrepancies with the Production Leader.
Material Management
- Receive installation materials, verify them against schematic drawing or BOM, inform Production Leader of any discrepancies.
- Check for damaged goods or deficiencies and inform the shipper as necessary.
- Monitor inventory of shop supplies and inform Production Leader of any low stock/inventory to meet production targets.
Production Oversight
- Assists Production Leader in reviewing drawings and producing terminal markers, rating labels, and device labels for all enclosures.
- Assists Production Leader on quality aspect and ensure the finalization of manufactured products. Additionally, assist in correction of deficiencies identified during testing, photographing of panels and equipment, and incorporation of final drawings and documentation.
- Monitor the quality standards of products to ensure they meet company and customer requirements.
Team Leadership and Training
- Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the shop team, helping improve project efficiency and quality.
- Support and step in for the Production Leader when absent, ensuring consistent shop operations.
Health and Safety
- Understand and adhere to established health and safety procedures.
- Assist the Production Leader in the implementation and maintenance of health and safety procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety within the shop, providing input on safety improvements to the Safety Manager.
What we need from you:
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing industrial automation systems or electrical control panels.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of electrical components and their installation, including power cables, control wiring, and panel modifications for systems rated up to 600V, 600HP.
- Hands-on experience with hand and power tools used in electrical panel assembly and wiring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with electrical schematics, panel wiring, or materials.
- Leadership and team mentoring experience, with the ability to train and guide junior team members.
- Organizational and time management skills to efficiently manage inventory, shop supplies, and meet production deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of safety.
